Unless You’ve Walked In My Shoes . . .

EngAGE believes in the value of communication between the generations. To facilitate that communication, Stacy Sims, founder of the True Body Project, brought “Walk in Our Shoes” inter-generational projects to the residents of two EngAGE communities and the students of their neighboring schools. The seniors and students were asked to write to the prompt, “Unless you’ve walked in my shoes, you cannot know . . .” They then collaborated on theatrical works using their stories as scripts. The Burbank Senior Artists Colony mentors and Burbank Community School students performed their work at the BSAC Theater. The Piedmont mentors and the Country School students performed their work at the Lankershim Arts Center in North Hollywood. Both the students and the mentors agreed that the project was a great success!
