Host Bobbee Zeno welcomes songstress Barbara Morrison who, despite her recent serious bout with diabetes, including the amputation of one of her legs, continues to fascinate her fans and culturally enrich the Southland, and homegrown choreographer Lula Washington who is an international force in the world of dance.

Popular vocalist Barbara Morrison’s long career includes performances at the Montreux, Monterey, Long Beach and North Sea jazz festivals, Carnegie Hall and probably every Southern California jazz venue of the last forty years.  She has been featured on over twenty albums. In addition to performing, she is a tireless educator. She serves as the Creative Director of the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center in the Leimert Park neighborhood of L.A. Read more about the Center here.  Her personal website is here.

Award-winning choreographer Lula Washington has worked for most of her career in an Afrocentric dance idiom that merges modern, jazz and tap techniques. After earning a master’s degree in dance from UCLA, she went on, with her husband Erwin, to found her own dance company in 1980. The company evolved into the Lula Washington Contemporary Dance Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to providing a creative outlet for minority dance artists in South Los Angeles.
