- In January, residents enjoyed the monthly potluck celebration of birthdays with cake and ice cream. Residents provided an array of assorted main dishes, sides, and desserts for all to enjoy. Below, Mr. Kim celebrates his January birthday and is recognized as one of our dedicated food program volunteers.
- The cool weather of January was welcomed with Sweet and Sour Pork, marinated and served with fresh pineapple and cilantro in instructor Eleanor’s Nutritional Cooking Class. Fresh green, red and orange veggies brightened the plate, and the aroma of steamed brown rice warmed the air. Noodles with fresh mushrooms, prepared horseradish, and sour cream came together with sticky rice for another comforting meal.
- Early Valentine’s Day preparations gave instructor Jewel’s class another opportunity to explore their talents with paint. Wooden hearts were adorned lovingly and trinket boxes were decorated wildly. The gift of giving is what this craft class celebrated. The ladies that gather for crafts class are a very close and trusting circle. Jewel notes, “We talked about colors and the meaning behind them, i.e., red is romance, blue is soulful, green is starting anew, and so on.” Art enthusiast Mariann states, “Art conversation is therapeutic and it usually carries over into relationships, friends, and life.”
