- Exercise class provides a general cardio-workout and Friday is weight training. Resident Marinell: “I have never felt better and I would not have believed that I could lose weight just by exercising in class.”
- The Kenneth A. Picerne Foundation has provided us with facilitator/artist Jo to teach the Improv class this year. Below, resident Nydia accepts the trophy for “The Best Folded Laundry” and Bonnie belts out her acceptance speech for being voted “The Best Dog Walker.”
- Instructor Lionel conducts the weekly computer class with a small but devoted group of residents with varying aptitudes. They continue work on word processing, internet browsing, and troubleshooting as well as improving their use of the English language. Tahara, who recently moved to Villa Anaheim from Iran, says, “I love it!” Resident Betty says, “It is challenging even if your English is fair, because the questions and pictures make you think.”
- Residents socialize while clipping coupons for the dependants of military personnel living abroad. The coupons are collected monthly and the EngAGE office mails 11-12 pounds of clipped coupons several times a year. Flora, below, never misses a chance to catch up with neighbors and clip. “It is relaxing,” she says, “and it is for a good cause. I like to help people.”
- Volunteers gather twice a month to package and distribute much-needed food for their neighbors who may not qualify for the Food Bank. EngAGE Staff Member Jewel, assists. Pictured below, Antoinette and Barbara work very hard ensuring the fair and timely distribution of bags to residents.
