“Profiles” is a new EngAGE Blog category devoted to occasional posts about older people who have made a significant creative impact in our world. Today’s subject: STEWART BRAND, whose Whole Earth Catalog (1971) is referred to as “the book that changed the world.” Brand was at the heart of ’60s counterculture and is now widely revered as the tech visionary whose book anticipated the web.

Art Class provides a relaxing environment for residents to explore their creativity through different art mediums. Recently the class experimented with watercolor and wax transfer, and acrylic on canvas using stencils. Instructor Meloney Morse commented: “I love how creative this group is! They love the experience of making new works of art using different techniques.”

Jewelry Class is led by a Metro Compton resident. Patricia loves to make jewelry in her spare time and decided to share her talent with her community. Recently, class members each created a bracelet and a pair of earrings using glass pearls and spacers. EngAGE provides all materials needed for this class.
