Angelo Lo Forese, now 93, is an Internet sensation and most certainly a sensation in person, thanks to his incredibly powerful operatic voice. And yes, after a long career, he is still performing. Hear him sing, at age 90 in Tokyo, Di quella pira, a popular tenor aria from Verdi’s opera, Il trovatore; and, at age 92, La donna è mobile, the Duke of Mantua’s canzone from Verdi’s Rigoletto. Bravissimo! (There are other videos online, but his Wikipedia entry is in Italian.)
He has been onstage for many years, a strong sensational tenor !! At the age of 92 you must hear him !!
Thanks for your comment, Lois! He is indeed quite a talent.
I played the aria from Turnadot in a fast food resturant during lunch time in Louisville, KY. The diners were not responsive to the violin part, however, when Angelo began to sing there was an instant hush. I was listening with tears in my eyes realizing what a treasure I had found! The fast food restaurant audience was astounded that the voice they had heard belongs to a 92 year old tenor. I will forever remain awestruck! Thanks for posting the video!!!!
I learned quite recently that Angelo is a distant cousin of mine, related to my grandmother Eugenia Loforese Perrone Natale of Castellaneta, Italy. Another cousin gave me an audio CD of Angelo’s work, which I am currently enjoying.
Thanks for your comment!
Thank you for your comment, Wes! Great story.
Unreal! Poeerful high ‘c’ and on pitch and 90 years..bravo
Bis Angelo! ??????
Proof that age has nothing to do with one’s ability to sing!!!
