Friend of EngAGE Glenda Glayzer, who blogs at ItAintOver.com, sent us this message recently:
“As I’ve told you before, I’m concentrating on my writing, gearing up to some serious stuff. Time is running short and I still have lots to say. 🙂
“Anyway, I’ve attended four consecutive Creative Writing classes through an online portal Ed2Go . When you get to the website and go to Find a School, you’re prompted to enter your zip code to find the nearest college offering the courses. You register, pick your course, pay and you’re ready to go. Don’t do it yet.
“When I went to sign up for my next course, I saw that the school had raised the price $15. Retired people, even those still working, are usually on pretty tight budgets. I posted in my class discussion area my disappointment in the price raise, and this naturally provoked further conversation. One of my fellow students said that her library offers the courses for FREE.
“All you need is a library card to access every course offered by ed2go. At the library, the classes are called Learn4Life , not ed2go.
“No more worries about the budget. Gobble up the knowledge on all the subjects offered on the menu. Exercise those brain cells and stay vibrant.”
Thanks for the tip, Glenda! Not every library offers these courses (quite a wide variety of topics, too), but they are available in Los Angeles libraries. Check your local library to see if you can access them there.
