Jazz pianist and composer Dick Hyman, 84, is known for his versatility with jazz piano styles. Over a 50-year career, he has functioned as a pianist, organist, arranger, music director, and, increasingly, as a composer. His versatility in all of these areas has resulted in well over 100 albums recorded under his own name and many more in support of other artists and projects, including more than a dozen Woody Allen films. He’s been honored as one of New York’s all-time ‘Most Valued Players’ by the Musicians’ Union. Visit his website for more information, read an interesting article and listen to him on Stanford University’s Riverwalk Jazz program collection, and take a look at this great video of him tearing up the piano keyboard last year with a performance of “I’m Just Wild about Harry” at the Suncoast Jazz Classic. What fun!
