Edward TickEDWARD TICK, Ph.D., co-founded the non-profit organization Soldier’s Heart. Honored for his groundbreaking work in the spiritual, holistic and community-based healing of veterans, Dr. Tick has been a psychotherapist for over 35 years, specializing in working with veterans since the 1970s. The Department of Defense now uses his pioneering work and he was the U.S. Army’s 2012 trainer for its annual Chaplain Sustainment Training in PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). Author of the award winning book War And The Soul and several other books, today we talk about his latest book published by Sounds True: WARRIOR’S RETURN: RESTORING THE SOUL AFTER WAR. (A portion of the proceeds from the book will go to Soldier’s Heart. Beryl Bender BirchBERYL BENDER BIRCH, Founder and Director of The Hard & The Soft Yoga Institute, is the best-selling author of several books on yoga, including POWER YOGA. She was named one of seven American women “innovators shaping yoga today” by Yoga Journal and was featured in the Barnes and Noble book, AMERICAN YOGA. A former biofeedback researcher with a degree in English and philosophy from Syracuse University, she has been an avid student of classical yoga, meditation, and the study of consciousness since l971.  She is a long time leader in speaking out on the critical importance of spiritual revolution, the combination of activism and practice, and is also the co-founder of the Give Back Yoga Foundation which supports yoga teachers world-wide in developing give back projects in their communities. Beryl Bender Birch’s latest book is YOGA FOR WARRIORS:  BASIC TRAINING IN STRENGTH, RESILIENCE AND PEACE OF MIND, published by Sounds True.
