Mural artist Kent Twitchell, 72, has five mural projects in the works, including new commissions and the resurrection of significant early works. Last month he announced that he would be repainting his famous “Ed Ruscha Monument” at a new location: the American Hotel in the arts district of downtown L.A. The original mural had adorned a Hill Street building for almost 20 years, until it was whitewashed, without Twitchell’s permission. The same fate befell one of his most popular murals, “The Freeway Lady,” painted in 1974 and painted over without permission in 1986. The new mural is being installed at Valley College. ~ Read more about this talented and legendary L.A. artist here.
