Lily Tomlin Gets Emmy Nomination

TELEVISIONLily Tomlin, 75, has charmed audiences for over 45 years. From the memorable characters she created and showcased on “Laugh In” (remember Ernestine, the telephone operator?), to her film roles (remember “Nine to Five”?) to her stellar turn in her one-woman Broadway show (she got a Tony Award), she’s consistently demonstrated her amazing talent. And now, she’s just added an Emmy nomination to the list for her work on the Netflix original television series, “Grace and Frankie,” in which she stars as Frankie opposite Jane Fonda’s Grace.

If you haven’t seen the show, it follows Grace, a retired cosmetics mogul, and Frankie, a hippie art teacher, whose husbands, Robert (Martin Sheen) and Sol (Sam Waterston), are successful divorce lawyers. Grace and Frankie’s lives are turned upside down when Robert and Sol announce that they are in love with each other and are leaving their wives. Now, the women, who have never particularly liked each other, are forced to live together and support each other as they navigate their next chapters.
