Archstone Foundation has funded Second Harvest of Orange County to provide Community Gardens to the properties where they currently serve food. Gratefully, Villa Anaheim is one of five properties that is receiving free services, including a monthly Master Gardener on site, soil, fertilizer, seedlings, and potting needs for balcony and patio gardeners. This is an organic, edible community garden. Site Leader Nicole Galardo reports that the garden has overflowed with vegetables and many tomatoes have been harvested.
Safe exercise facilitates increased flexibility, strength, and endurance. Coordination and balance exercises help prevent falls and injury. Instructor Miles Morse: “The first day of exercise class we used a walking DVD, which was very successful. The next day, for the first few minutes we stretched and warmed up. After that we walked around the building for a while. When all that was done, there were about 30 minutes left in the class. The ladies brought down their radio and started to dance for the rest of the class. A woman taught me how to tango. We had a good day that day.”
