News from The Jasmine: Improv Comedy + Art

News from the Jasmine Senior Apartments in Fountain Valley (Orange Country):

“Do You Like to Laugh?” – In this weekly class, participants discuss the elements of humor, teach each other about cultural humor, practice speaking English, and learn about improvisation. Research shows that improvisation is one of the best ways to keep the whole person actively engaged and keep memory loss at bay. Instructor Jo McLachlan: “The group has channeled their internal political views and disagreements into a political script, which will be filmed in March by a small production crew. We performed a dry run at the February potluck event.”

Art Class provides a relaxing environment for residents to explore their creativity through different art mediums. Recent topics included making adult coloring pages using colored pencil and watercolor, and seashell painting with acrylic paints. Instructor Meloney Morse: “The Jasmine artists are a creative bunch. They understand the mediums we work with and have even taught me a few things!  They love being creative in class and are not afraid of taking risks.” (Click photos to enlarge.)
