SUNDAY JUNE 5th @ 5 PM PT
NINA RAO
and
DR. SAMUEL LUPIN
with host DR. CONNIE CORLEY

Nina+RaoNINA RAO first learned traditional chants at age nine, and rediscovered them as an adult hearing Grammy-nominated Krishna Das in New York in 1996. For many years Nina has been Krishna Das’ business manager and assistant, often touring with him, playing cymbals and singing. In 2007, she recorded the track “Nina Chalisa” on Krishna Das’ CD, “Flow of Grace,” and in January 2013, she released her debut album, “Antarayaami – Knower of All Hearts.” Nina regularly leads kirtan in her hometown of Brooklyn, NY, and beyond, and recently was the lead coordinator of the musical events at a Ram Dass retreat in Maui.  She will be in Southern California in mid-June. Learn more on her website and see videos here.

Samuel LupinDR. SAMUEL LUPIN is the winner of the 2015 Purpose Prize for Intergenerational Engagement sponsored by the Eisner Foundation.  He founded a program called Housecalls for the Homebound in New York City at a time in his life when most physicians would be planning retirement. However, it was his way to continue his practice while caring for a daughter with leukemia. He notes on the Encore.org website that visiting homebound older adults is a way of honoring his daughter Lois’ memory. Family is key in Housecalls for the Homebound in another way: his son-in-law and grandson help run the business which has served over 4,000 patients who would otherwise be in hospitals or other facilities. Learn more about Housecalls for the Homebound here and learn about Dr. Lupin’s Purpose Prize here.
