News from Magnolia @ Highland: Paper Mache Masks

The Artists Roundtable at Magnolia at Highland in San Bernardino, led by instructor Alma Wright, allows beginning and working artists to gather each week to discuss projects, provide feedback, and share in the process of individual creation. Recently, the group worked on making paper mâché masks, “self-portraits in sculptures.” These will be entered into competition at the EngAGE Senior Olympics in September. Instructor’s notes: The students are taking their time sculpting and sanding their masks. They’re always in a happy mood, and are even getting one or two visitors to the class who come to admire their work. Everybody is really motivated to continue working on this project.
