News from Portofino: An Intergenerational Celebration

In the beginning of the year, EngAGE Program Director Clarissa Arostegui reached out to Mr. Jesus Peralta, Principal of Madison Elementary School in Pomona, CA, asking if the seniors at Portofino Villas could perform for the school children. The residents were thrilled that their invitation was accepted and prepared to give a performance the children would cherish.  After several months of rehearsing, the group presented the children with a colorful Chinese dance with beautiful songs.  The seniors were delighted to see the smiles and excitement on the children’s faces. After the performance, the performers were able to interact with the students and answer questions about their Chinese culture.

The seniors at Portofino were recently touched when they received a thank you poster from the students, showing their appreciation.
