I am interested in knowing more about the Long Beach Senior Arts Colony that is being built. I am a senior, moved to Long Beach 1 1/2 years ago.

As I read more and more regarding the L.B. Senior Arts Colony, I am coming to the conclusion that it is not what I thought. I was under the impression that this was along the lines of the Burbank Senior Arts Colony, which advertised in the past, that it is a senior residence for seniors who were in the arts profession comprising of musicians, performing arts field, painters, sculptors, etc. etc.

But now I see that The Long Beach Senior Arts Colony is geared more for all seniors who are of low income, homeless, and otherwise. That is wonderful. It will be a great place for seniors who cannot afford market rates and to have activities geared to the arts. It is wonderful for the community too.

I will not be checking back though, because for me personally, this is not what I am looking for. I do look forward to seeing the completion of this wonderful project.

A minimum of 68 units will be designated as affordable housing with rent levels at 30% to 60% of the Area Median Income, however there are a total of two hundred units available. This is similar to the way Burbank Senior Artists Colony is set up. I hope you’ll investigate the property when it’s ready to see if it’s right for you!
