This week Bobbee Zeno talks with author M.J. Duffy. Also: Festival Producer Moza Mjasiri Cooper will discuss the Ladera/Inglewood Boomer Health & Wellness Festival
M.J. Duffy overcame dyslexia by reading romance novels, beginning with Gone with the Wind when she was 14 years old. The story was so spellbinding, it caused her to become a voracious reader and an articulate writer. Years later, she was amazed to learn that reading romance novels can serve as a lighthouse for passionate living by affecting brain chemistry. The vast majority of black romance novels tend to reflect aspects of poverty, illiteracy, illegitimacy and drugs, the unfortunate consequences of society, so Duffy countered this by creating a story about an alien species.
