Tony Bennett has released more than seventy albums during his impressive sixty year career. At the age of 85, he continues to perform and inspire. What’s the secret to his special sound? In addition to his talent, it’s due at least in part to advice from his old vocal coach, Mimi Speer, who said, ”Never imitate another singer. Listen to musicians, and find out how they phrase and how they feel about a song, and imitate them. If you imitate another singer, you’ll just be one of the chorus.”
