POSITION DESCRIPTION: Intern will be placed with the EngAGE Programs Teams at NoHo and Burbank Senior Arts Colonies. These colonies are home to active seniors who lead busy, productive and interesting lives as they continue to develop their skills and talents. Interns will participate in the beginning phases of a project to provide senior artists with the knowledge and resources to become digitally and technologically adept in order to promote their work more widely and participate in on-line arts communities. The interns will also have the opportunity to give creative input about the programs and projects they encounter as well as collaborate with older artists with unique artistic and cultural experience. This will be an immersion experience in an Arts and Aging organization with international reach that is also on the National Endowment for the Arts’ 10 Best Practices Nationally list. The internship will provide access to pioneers in this burgeoning professional field. After 10 weeks students will have a better grasp of the overall potential for work in the field as well as how to pursue particular paths of interest.  This is a paid position.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Intern will need to be approved by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and eligibility is limited to currently enrolled undergraduate college students who reside or attend college in Los Angeles County. Students must have completed at least one semester of college by June 1, 2013 or will complete their undergraduate degree between May 1 – September 1, 2013. Interns will be experienced in the use of digital media and computer programs useful for visual, performance and/or literary arts. (word-processing, film-making/editing, soundtrack, music, photography, etc). Will need good interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to drive own car between Burbank and NoHo sites.
