2011 Living Indian Treasure: Arthur Amiotte

 

Artistic EquipmentThe South Dakota Living Indian Treasure Award is presented by the governor of the state to an American Indian elder in recognition of their contributions to Native American art forms. Artists eligible for the award must live in South Dakota and be American Indians over the age of 55. Lakota artist Arthur Amiotte, the 2011 recipient, is internationally known for his expertise as a professional painter, art educator and cultural historian.

    Congratulations, Arthur. You certainly deserve the recognition and much more. I have retired from UND, returned to Lincoln to look after my elderly parents. Still miss Bea.
