News from The Grove
Residents at The Grove had a lively December with classes and events including the holiday potluck, crafts, yoga, computer skills, English language learning games, and weight training. The TalkStory project progressed with residents refining their personal stories which reflect a rich diversity of cultural backgrounds and experiences. Vital food distribution continued through the Orange County Food Bank and O.C. Second Harvest. (Click on the pictures to enlarge them!)

News from Cantabria and Asturias
Last month, residents enjoyed a Christmas Carol Sing-A-Long with Louahn Lowe for the second year, there was a huge turnout for the Jewelry Class with Michelle Kreger, and the computer class returned with Steviann teaching all the basic skills. Yoga and Zumba classes continued as did Jazz Appreciation, facilitated by Clarence Johnston, a well-known and respected jazz drummer for who has played over fifty years with artists such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Dinah Washington. Clarence is Artist-in-Residence, funded by the Kenneth A. Piscerne Foundation. Click on the images to enlarge them!

Ramdesh Kaur is Director of Marketing for Spirit Voyage, an organization which produces music, books, videos and events engaging many people around the globe in yoga focused on the Kundalini tradition. Ramdesh hosts a radio show for Spirit Voyage and is the author of Mantras for the Whole Heart.

News from Portofino
December activities at Portofino included the monthly Birthday Gathering/Christmas Celebration, the Gardening Club, and performances by both the students in the World Relief Chamber of Music (WRCM) and the Bealltine Players from Ireland. We posted on December 27 about the Northrup Grumman organization’s donation of gifts to a group of residents and the accompanying celebration, but here are two more photos from that event. Residents also enjoyed classes in dancing, music and singing.
