A message from EngAGE C.O.O. Dr. Maureen Kellen-Taylor:
Before the holiday season fades completely away, we want to acknowledge the kindness of a group of people with whom EngAGE is involved, and give a shout out to all the people who cared about making an enjoyable Christmas for a group of children in low-income housing. . .
. . . first, the seniors who live at The Piedmont, Burbank and NoHo Senior Arts Colonies who donated toys. . .
. . . and Elizabeth Sampson, member of The Road Theatre Company, North Hollywood, (and an EngAGE Staff member), who appealed to her fellow actors at The Road Theatre for donations. . .
. . . and the generous people at The Road, who came through with enough donations to provide toys and gift certificates for the 70 children as well as treats to add to the festivities — as they have for the past few seasons.
Elizabeth shopped for the toys for 78 children the same week as she threw 3 EngAGE Christmas Carol Singalong parties, provided entertainment at another party, and transported the bags of toys to the wrapping party at NoHo Senior Arts Colony, (in addition to throwing her own personal Christmas party for 100 people).
The toys were wrapped by the wonderful residents and volunteers who gave their valuable holiday time to create the beautiful and enticing parcels to put under the children’s tree. The EngAGE staff present were so grateful for their help and good cheer. With neighbors like these, no wonder the NoHo Senior Arts Colony is such an enjoyable place to live.
