Yoga provides safe exercise and increased flexibility, strength, and endurance, as well as a relaxed and focused mental state. The Chair Yoga class welcomes yogis of all levels and begins with 20 minutes of warm-up. The topic introduced last month by instructor Maria D’Ambrosio was slowing down and how yoga is a great practice for teaching us that. The class understands that not only do we need to slow the body down but the mind as well. Students like how relaxed they feel at the end of class and appreciate having variations to poses that they can adjust to their personal levels.
The hands-on, once a week Gardening community project led by Toni Byrd teaches residents how to garden, work with the earth, and grow food to eat. Gardening promotes nutrition, community building, and overall well-being. The month of March was fantastic for everything garden related. This lovely garden is an exhibition of beauty as the Garden Club members continue to demonstrate what they’ve learned. We’ve finally reaped the long awaited papaya harvest. The two trees both are full of the fruit and have begun new growth. The other available harvest includes a variety of lettuce, wasabi, Swiss chard, baby collard greens, green onions, lemon balm, and lavender.
