An article from the Sarasota Herald-Tribune states:
“With 276,000 adults 60 and over – the highest proportion of seniors among the 10 largest U.S. cities – Philadelphia looks like an interesting model for Sarasota [and other cities] to track if we want to be more serious about making life easier and richer for our elders. . . ‘What is good for older adults is usually good for everyone,’ said Allen Glicksman, director of research for the Philadephia Corporation for Aging.”
The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging promotes the basic elements of an age-friendly city: “accessible housing; ease of public transportation; readily available fresh foods; safe and inviting public spaces; and a vibrant workforce that is aware of issues facing older adults.”
