Philadelphia: A Senior-Friendly City

Home-Sweet-HomeAn article from the Sarasota Herald-Tribune states:

“With 276,000 adults 60 and over – the highest proportion of seniors among the 10 largest U.S. cities – Philadelphia looks like an interesting model for Sarasota [and other cities] to track if we want to be more serious about making life easier and richer for our elders. . . ‘What is good for older adults is usually good for everyone,’ said Allen Glicksman, director of research for the Philadephia Corporation for Aging.”

SENIOR-SERVICESThe Philadelphia Corporation for Aging promotes the basic elements of an age-friendly city: “accessible housing; ease of public transportation; readily available fresh foods; safe and inviting public spaces; and a vibrant workforce that is aware of issues facing older adults.”
