News from Cascadian Terrace: Free Meals Distributed to Residents

Kathleen M. Sullivan, PhD, Regional Director, EngAGE Northwest, reports:

My Vice Catering, EngAGE, and Community Development Partners, with support from Friendly House, are working together to create and distribute high quality, nutritious catered meals for free to residents. Yesterday was the first day of what will be a weekly program, and was an amazing show of teamwork and care for the residents of Cascadian Terrace in Portland, OR. We distributed food to 65 apartments and served 85 meals. Each resident got two boxes, a reminder card, and masks for those in need. Residents who received the catered meal were very enthusiastic. The enchilada and salad meals were made to accommodate vegan and vegetarian diets. Chicken enchiladas were served to all other residents. Guardian management staff was also helpful with understanding the needs of residents. All in all, a great display of team work. Food was procured by EngAGE from a local food pantry: Mainspring. To date, Mainspring has donated over 700 pounds of food for the catered meal program.
