EngAGE Nominated for San Diego Housing Federation Ruby Award

EngAGE is nominated for the San Diego Housing Federation 2019 Ruby Award for Outstanding Service to Residents at Tavarua Senior Apartments, Carlsbad, CA. The event is May 16th at the US Grant Hotel in San Diego, CA,  5:30 – 9:00 pm. We are grateful to Amaris Sanchez, Senior Program Manager at the Corporation for Supportive Housing, who is responsible for nominating us.

San Diego Housing Federation creates affordable housing opportunities for low-income people by expanding the knowledge, capacity, and influence of the affordable housing development community. In addition to our advocacy work, SDHF offers professional training, networking opportunities, and provides resources for housing policy advocates.

The mission of the Corporation for Supportive Housing is to advance solutions that use housing as a platform for services to improve the lives of the most vulnerable people, maximize public resources, and build healthy communities.

Tavarua Senior Apartments is a Meta Housing Community.

Tom Wheatley, CPA, Joins EngAGE as CFO

Tim Carpenter, CEO/Founder of EngAGE: “We are excited to welcome Tom to the team and know that his profound expertise will help us grow as an organization.”

Thomas M. Wheatley, CPA, CFO – Mr. Wheatley is a finance and operations executive with expertise in three key areas: not-for-profit organizations (mostly K-12 Private Education and Public Benefit Foundations), for-profit Corporate Finance (Fortune 100) and Public Accounting (“Big 4”). He was formerly Interim Executive Director and CFO for the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus. Prior to that, he was CFO for Sequoyah School, and for the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. He has a B.A. from the University of Maryland.

Video Now Posted: Live PDX All Ages Radio Story Hour

Home Forward and EngAGE joined together to bring storytelling classes to the Unthank Plaza and Rosenbaum Plaza affordable housing communities in Portland, OR, last year. At a special culminating event performance, we celebrated the participants with a live radio hour dedicated to hearing their stories and educating Portland about the power of artistic opportunity. We broadcast the show in two parts on Experience Talks on 90.7 KPFK-FM on April 21st and April 28th. You can find both parts as well as the complete radio show posted on our Experience Talks website.
