News from Cotton’s Point: Technology

Learning Craigslist has never been so much fun!

This lovely lady, Sharon, came to my tech class last week at Cotton’s Point Senior Apartments in San Clemente, CA, to get something solved that has been bothering her for the longest time. She could not figure out how to properly add photos to items she was trying to sell. The problem was small and easy to teach, but to her it was like winning the lottery! She had been holding back selling her items because of this hold up. It brings me joy to be able to make our residents’ lives a little bit easier!

News from Magnolia@9th: Hand-Crafting

Residents at Magnolia@9th Senior Apartments in San Bernardino, CA, spend their afternoons crafting and laughing with their neighbors. They love having new craft projects each month. Recently, they learned to work with empty plastic water and soda bottles to create flowers and leaves that were then painted and used to decorate a vase. Ribbons and gems were added to complete the colorful project.

News from NoHo SAC: Going Green in North Hollywood, CA

Going green means pursuing practices that can lead to more environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible decisions and lifestyles, which can help protect the environment and sustain its natural resources for current and future generations.

One way we can reduce waste is by asking all of our residents to bring their own cutlery (plates, forks, knives, spoons, and cups) to the monthly Birthday Potluck events. That way, we are not polluting our planet with plastic forks and knives that we throw away after each Birthday Potluck Dinner.

We are encouraging everyone to do so and our incentive is that those who bring their own cutlery will have their names entered in a raffle to win a Ralphs Grocery Store gift card.

Our first attempt last Thursday was a success! Most people brought their own cutlery ,and some were creative and brought lightweight reusable plastic cutlery. Well done, NoHo Senior Arts Colony! Mother Nature is grateful for all your efforts.
